A one-day festival to celebrate the religious, historical, familial, societal, contextual and musical underpinnings of the Valmiki community in the UK. In collaboration with Bhagwan Valmiki Sabha Birmingham, the event was a day of music, memory, making and meaning.

In Valmiki cuture ‘Sangeet’ refers to being together in song, most often in joyful congregative spaces. The event comprised of ‘creation stations’ responding to Valmiki teachings and scripture; multi-lingual archives and links to Punjabi culture; a pop-up exhibition of community artworks and artefacts; live performances, refreshments and more.

This event was imagined as a space to share more about Birmingham’s Valmiki community and the wider context for the LOCAL SUPERSTAR project.
